JOB DESCRIPTION
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a state owned organisation. We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.
GIZ International Services is preparing for the EU-funded tender: „Support to the Implementation EU Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Strategic Partnership” in forecast stage.
The overall objective is to implement the Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation in Energy signed between the EU and Egypt in April 2018. This will materialise in bringing expertise from Europe to benefit the Egyptian energy modernisation process in a manner that promotes and implements sustainable solutions. In line with Egypt's 2035 Sustainable Energy Strategy, this technical assistance will cover a wide range of energy related issues covering governance and regulation, sustainability, the introduction of competitive energy markets and issues of security of supply including capacity building in related fields.

YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications and Skills
1. Master’s degree in engineering, economics, or other related fields to energy
2. An advanced professional qualification related to energy would be an asset
3. Fluency in written and spoken English
4. Knowledge of Arabic would be an asset
General professional experience
1. A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the energy sector
2. Of which at least four years dealing energy sector policy and strategy
3. At least four years’ experience in sustainable energy (renewable energy and/or energy efficiency and/or energy savings)
4. At least three years’ experience leading a team in an international context
Specific professional experience
1. Proven experience with energy policy, energy sector reform and/or regulatory or legal issues in the energy sector
2. Proven knowledge of relevant EU Directives and regulations
LOCATION INFORMATION
The project will be based in Cairo, Egypt.
The project is expected to start in January 2021 and to last 46 months. We would like to inform you in advance that the period of assignement may change.
