MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Carry out quality credit assessment, present bankable solutions and manage the credit risk of a portfolio of clients in the Agri-business value chain. To perform quality credit assessment for the allocated portfolio i.e. Commercial and Development Credit applications and mitigate any potential risk on behalf of the Land Bank and recommend bankable solutions in accordance with the approved Credit Policy and the delegated level of power

Key Performance Areas
Credit Assessment and Risk Management
1. Carry out full credit assessments within allocated portfolio
2. Check the credit submission for completeness, including accompanying documents in terms of the approved loan guidelines.
3. Ensure that all relevant information and documentation has been received from the operations as per the agreed checklist
4. Follow up with the branches to ensure that all supporting documentation is complete
5. Ensure that loan applications conform to the set standards, highlight anomalies and suggest corrective measures
6. Align products to the purpose of the loan and the Credit Policy to suite customer’s needs
7. Co-ordination of CAC and CCC setting up of agenda(s) for application(s) to be heard
8. Reporting stats of application(s) processed for allocated region(s)
9. Check the spreading of financial statements to identify the viability and performance of the business and assess business and financial risk by analysing financial statements of applicants
10. Provide the committee with the summary of market and industry analysis
11. Research and assess the industry in which the loan is associated as appropriate to assess the potential risk of granting the loan
12. Interpret financial statements and economic / political / industry/commodity data
13. Assess the application to ensure viability and sustainability of the business

14. Analyse all the presented information and complete a sensitivity analysis in order to mitigate risks associated with the client portfolio
15. Risk model validations, to ensure that data captured by AES & Business Analyst are accurate.
16. Capture data on the back office pricing model and scoring the credit application for pricing purposes
17. Conduct customer visits as required by CDB from time to time or as required by front line
18. Prepare proposal for recommendation to CAC and CCC (for approval/decline) and consideration by the relevant Credit Committee in accordance to Bank’s Credit policy and agreed processes and procedures
19. Presenting credit submission to the GM and committee as and when required
20. Update Credit Manager & GM Commercial Credit with the weekly work in progress report to improve turnaround time
21. Check the correctness of documents uploaded by Credit Administrator for committee meetings
22. Assisting the Credit Manager Commercial Credit with management of Portfolio Region(s) and constantly keeping Portfolio Manager(s) and General Manager(s) at the Branch up to date with credit applications
23. Advisory services to front line and providing training as necessary
24. Assisting in improving the growth and decreasing the Non-Performing Loans by producing good quality loan assessments.
25. Check the accuracy of the credit submission submitted by the Business Analyst
26. Escalate any risk pertaining to credit applications to management

Stakeholder Relationship Management and Team Support
1. Build relationships with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure understanding of requirements and addressing any credit related issues
2. Respond to queries received from the Branch operations and the relevant Credit Committee
3. Promote a culture of credit risk management at branch level.
4. Provide guidance and training to operations on credit related matters
5. Adhering to legislative requirements
6. Pro-actively develop self with regards to other / new products in the Land Bank
7. Manage own career and personal developments
8. Demonstrate behaviour that is aligned to the Land Bank values
9. May be required to represent Credit on projects as assigned by management

General Administration and Audit Matters
1. Ensure that documentation is archived in accordance to the Bank’s policy for record and audit purposes
2. Attend to audit findings as and when required within area of responsibility
3. Take remedial action on all audit findings and ensure that issues are resolved or addressed
4. Ensure recording of all credit committee meetings are loaded on the v-drive
5. Ensure feedback is given to all the relevant stakeholders on outcome of the application

Loan Policies and Procedures
1. Provide input to policies and procedures and updates and identify opportunities to improve as and when required
2. Provide inputs on lending norms and credit criteria to be applied on new products
3. Participate in the review of Credit Policies and procedures.
4. Ensure that the branches are informed of changes to policies and/or of credit policies and procedures that have been approved
5. Provide guidance to the operations at branch level to ensure consistency and a standardised approach
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. 3 year Tertiary Qualification (Commerce) Majors Accounting; or a 3 year Credit Management Diploma
2. 3 years relevant credit assessment experience Thorough knowledge of the
3. NCA, CPA, FICA and related credit regulatory requirements
4. The primary and secondary agriculture sector finance.
5. Appraisal of credit proposals and deal structure for: assets finance, working capital, back ward and forward integration finance
