ABOUT
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy-relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa. The APHRC invites applications for transcribers in an upcoming study addressing accountability for equity in informal settlements (ARISE) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The aim of the study is to understand the role of accountability for improving equitable health and wellbeing for vulnerable populations living and working in informal settlements in Nairobi, Kenya.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Transcription and translation of qualitative interviews
2. Developing a coding framework and project themes
3. Other tasks related to transcription and translation assigned by the project tea
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. Diploma in a social science discipline
2. Previous experience in transcription and translation
3. Basic knowledge in computers specifically Microsoft Word
4. Typing speed of 60WPM and above
5. Can work under tight deadlines without supervision
6. Self-disciplined and able to submit self-edited high-quality work
7. Good listening skills
8. Understands Kiswahili and English and is conversant with different accents.
