JOB ADVERT SUMMARY The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank) is South Africa’s only specialist agricultural bank established in 1912, the bank’s sole objective is to serve South African commercial and emerging farmers and bring specially designed financial services within their reach. As change has swept across the sector in South Africa the socio-economic makeup of agriculture has altered, bringing new entrants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds on to the land, these new farmers, facing the challenges of establishing sustainable agri-businesses across the agricultural value chain, Land Bank has been a commercial lifeline offering appropriately designed financial products that facilitate personal and commercial viability in a sector that is vital to the sustainability of South Africa and its people.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To lead and proactively drive and sustainably develop the Banks relationships with Commercial and Development customers as well as Intermediary Channel Partnerships within the agricultural sector. Plays an integral role in leading the originating, structuring and executing of transactions with existing customers and proactively driving new business development opportunities.
Provides capability for technical support services through Intermediaries and Strategic partners to support customers that may not have the requisite experience or skills to implement commercial farming business operations and projects.
Works closely with internal teams to enhance the Bank’s profitability, product offerings, develop tailor made customer solutions, mitigate transactional risks and manage relationships with customers. Required to profitably deliver an efficient commercial origination function for the bank from prospecting to lending.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 1. Formulate the Commercial Development and Business Banking strategy as aligned to the Land Bank Corporate Plan 2. Designs and Implements the Commercial Development and Business Banking (CDBB) Service Delivery Model to execute the Strategy 3. Manage the Origination function for the Relevant Segments 4. Governance and Enterprise Risk Management for Commercial Development and Business Banking Division - policies 5. Financial Health, Sustainability and Growth of the Division 6. Development Impact and Transformation of the Agricultural Sector 7. Business Development and Stakeholder Management 8. Executive Functions 9. Divisional and People Management

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. A post graduate qualification; preferably Banking / Finance / CA 2. 10 years experience in Development Finance, Corporate, Business/Commercial or Investment Banking. 3. 10 years Strategic Management experience which includes leadership or management of a customer-facing profit making business unit. 4. 10 years experience in the leadership of strategic programme execution which includes project management and/or consulting. 5. 10 years experience of the above job function at an Executive Management Level as well as the ability to manage a team of Senior Managers and professionals.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES Development finance; project finance, including credit / risk analysis skills to enable informed interaction with Executives, Managers and Senior Staff. Business operations, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations. Human resource management principles, practices, and procedures. Policies, models, tools and systems.
