JOB DESCRIPTION The programme „Transboundary Water Management in the Southern African Development Community (SADC)“ (TWM) financed by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supports the river basin organisation for the Orange-Senqu (ORASECOM) and the government of Lesotho in protecting the water resources in the highlands of Lesotho. Through a co-financing by the European Union (EU), the programme will support a national programme on “Integrated Catchment Management” (ICM) in Lesotho. The programme focuses on capacity development on different levels, while concurrently supporting concrete measures at sub-catchment level.
YOUR TASKS 1. Coordination of all programme activities on policy harmonisation and reform 2. Backstopping and management of service provider contracts for analyses, studies and consultancies on policy reform 3. Support to regional and national stakeholders on policy reform processes 4. Assistance with stakeholder dialogue and consultative platforms 5. Support to programme management in the strategic and technical development of the programme 6. Positioning at regional and international levels in the water sector

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. political science, public administration, development policy) 2. Several years of professional experience in development cooperation in relevant sectors (e.g. integrated water resource management) 3. Proven track record in supporting national policy reform processes, if possible in the water sector 4. Strong process orientation, facilitation and negotiation skills in politically sensitive contexts 5. Experience with GIZ project management is an asset 6. Professional experience in Subsahara Africa is an asset 7. Strong team player with intercultural skills and flexibility 8. Fluent in English
