JOB DESCRIPTION
The project "Grüne Bürgerenergie" (GBE, Green People's Energy) supports the development of decentralised renewable energy in rural areas of Africa, involving local actors and private investors. This initiative is being implemented in nine African countries, including Benin. In the field of mini-grids, GBE Benin works together with Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) / Universal Energy Facility (UEF) to finance and support the construction of mini-grids through a Results-Based Financing (RBF) mechanism. While SE4All and UEF will cover the RBF mechanism and disbursement of subsidies to the private sector, GBE Benin, and notably the mini-grids advisor, will support private and public stakeholders with technical assistance and process facilitation.

YOUR TASKS
1. Coordinate GBE Benin project activities on the topic of "mini-grids"
2. Offer demand-based technical assistance and advice on mini-grids to companies, government partners, other development projects and financial institutions (covering aspects such as technical, financial and regulatory)
3. Support SE4All and UEF in the operationalisation of the results-based financing mechanism
4. Support mini-grid companies going through the regulatory processes of obtaining concessions, negotiating tariffs, etc. and support public actors in streamlining and updating regulatory processes
5. Liaise with other partners on the state of the mini-grid market, market intelligence, data analysis, barriers to the sector and complementary activities
6. Provide information and contribute to reporting and knowledge management of the related activities
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. University degree in engineering, energy, energy efficiency, management or comparable subjects
2. Several years of professional experience in off-grid renewable energy, ideally with solar mini-grids
3. Several years of professional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, ideally in West Africa
4. Solid expertise in mini-grid regulation and financing
5. Direct expertise with planning, building and operating solar mini-grids in Sub-Saharan Africa is a bonus
6. Expertise with policy advisory services on mini-grids in Sub-Saharan Africa is a bonus
7. Fluency in English and French
