JOB DESCRIPTION The Ethiopian government has adopted an Industrial Development Policy to transform the currently agricultural-led economy into an industry-based one, aiming to lift the population out of poverty and becoming a middle-income country by 2025. The textile and garment industries are considered priority sectors on the path to industrialization. These sectors are often characterized by precarious working conditions, low wages, non-compliance with human rights and social and ecological standards. The project "Promoting Sustainable Growth in the Textile and Garment Industry” in Ethiopia aims at job-effective growth and social and environmental sustainability of the textile and garment industry, by ensuring better working conditions for workers, better management in four industrial parks, increased sustainability on industrial park and company level, improving institutional frameworks and improving capacities of local companies.
YOUR TASKS 1. Support the overall implementation of the Business Linkage component of the project, in close coordination with the project team 2. Plan and monitor the components’ inputs, activities and outreach as well as supporting knowledge management and cross-cutting issues 3. Plan and guide support measures for local companies to address identified barriers to improve capabilities for vertical integration 4. Support the analysis of regional economic clusters and identification of business linkages within selected industrial parks 5. Coordinate technical short-term experts, working with companies to increase their productivity and competitiveness 6. Advice on financing options and increasing financial literacy 7. Advice to local and international investors in the development of special services for industrial parks and economic clusters 8. Prepare reports and support communication with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. University degree in Economics, Business Administration, Business Logistics or similar fields 2. Minimum 5 to 7 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Promoting business-to-business linkages, supply chain management, sourcing 3. Minimum 5 to 7 years of professional experience with the private sector preferably in the textile and garment sector and/or with public sectors in developing countries 4. Sound technical understanding of business supply chain management and/or business 5. Excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, teamwork as well as the ability to work under pressure and flexibility 6. Very good organisational skills and structured working methods 7. Written and oral fluency in English and German, good command of Amharic is an advantage
