FIELD OF ACTIVITY The aim of the “Employment for Sustainable Development (E4D)” project is, in cooperation with the private sector, to directly and indirectly promote employment, increase incomes and improve working conditions. New, innovative approaches to cooperation with the private sector are being tried out in order to generate higher private investments with employment effects. The project works with companies to develop inclusive business models that integrate poorer sections of the population into value chains as employees, suppliers or sales partners. The special focus is on employment in the upstream and downstream value chains of investment projects in the field of natural resources. The aim of the "Blue Economy" is to support the value chains in the area of the "Blue Economy" (especially in small-scale fishing and aquaculture, in sustainable tourism, logistics, transport, etc.) through qualification measures.
YOUR TASKS 1. Support of the component management in the technical and strategic control of the project component value chain development 2. Technical and conceptual support for value chain development measures in the aquaculture and aquaponics sector, including private sector support through qualification of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the selected value chain 3. Ensuring that the project component is achieved 4. Support for the establishment of a local steering group and working groups in the sector 5. Representation of the project component externally, including cooperation from a conceptual and strategic point of view, especially with the Kenyan counterpart (secretariat of the coastal region economic block) 6. Establishment of a multi-stakeholder platform for the sector ("aquaculture roundtable") 7. Quality assurance of the EU directive-compliant implementation of the project component, including internal program monitoring and preparatory work for formal reporting, public communication and knowledge management

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. Completed (specialist) university degree, preferably in the field of economics or agricultural sciences or a related subject with several years of work experience in aquaculture 2. Proven expertise and work experience in the field of private sector development and value chain development as well as aquaculture 3. Work experience in Kenya and experience with aquaponics are an advantage 4. In-depth knowledge of approaches to cooperation with and involvement of the private sector in labor market-oriented educational measures and approaches of German development cooperation for employment and private sector promotion 5. Good knowledge of GIZ procedures and standards including contract management and monitoring of employment effects 6. High coordination and cooperation skills as well as sovereign advisory skills and resilience with aptitude for politically demanding contexts 7. High social and intercultural competence as well as communication skills 8. Proficient in German and English
