ABOUT

FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The “Governance for Inclusive Development” (GovID) program is a bilateral project between Ghana and Germany that is being implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH together with the Ghanaian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry for Local Governance. 16 regional government councils (Regional Coordinating Council, RCC) strengthen the municipalities in their region in the performance of municipal tasks through coordination, training and monitoring. In cooperation with the RCCs, GovID supports selected partner communities in all 16 regions of Ghana in order to strengthen their local governance through higher income, improved transparency, more accountability and political participation as well as better service provision.

Working in tandem with a local GIZ employee, you support the RCC in implementing the joint program activities in the partner communities in a region.

YOUR TASKS
1. You support the RCC in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of training courses and program activities in the partner communities, for example in preparing fiscal cadastres, collecting fees, drawing up budgets and reporting.
2. You will advise and train the RCC employees, mainly in the areas of data collection, data management, monitoring and organizational development.
3. They promote a regular exchange of data and experience between the RCC and the municipalities.
4. They promote the use of participatory planning methods, the involvement of civil society, the consideration of the interests of minorities and the empowerment of women in local decision-making processes.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Degree and professional experience in one of the following areas: urban and regional planning, geography, law, international relations or a comparable discipline
2. Good knowledge of municipal planning processes and methods
3. Work experience in or with public administration
4. practical experience in dealing with geographical information systems
5. secure oral and written knowledge of English
6. strong intercultural and communication skills

LOCATION INFORMATION
1. Place of residence: various locations (including Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Dambai, Damongo, Goaso, Nalerigu, Sefwi-Wiawso, Techiman, Wa)
2. Climate: Tropical hot climate
3. Medical care: Basic care is available at all locations, good medical care is only available in the capital Accra
4. Shopping: Daily necessities are available at all locations, supermarkets with European products are only available in the capital Accra.
5. Schools: All locations are only suitable for families with school-age children to a very limited extent, as almost all international schools in the country are located in the greater Accra area.

HINTS
