ABOUT As a federal company, GIZ supports the federal government in achieving its goals in international cooperation for sustainable development.
FIELD OF ACTIVITY As the only Arab country with a parliamentary democracy and a modern constitution, Tunisia is considered a beacon of hope for the region and is at the same time a priority country for German and international development cooperation. GIZ has been active in Tunisia since 1975 on behalf of the German Federal Government and the European Union. With her local partners she works on more than 45 projects and supports the country in its economic and democratic development. An important element of Germany's engagement in Tunisia is the reform partnership within the framework of the Marshall Plan with Africa, with which the BMZ created a new conceptual framework for development cooperation with African partner countries in 2017. The reform partnership was concluded as a bilateral contribution to the G20 investment partnerships "Compacts with Africa" and supports concrete reform steps in the finance and banking sector. This year, the reform partnership with Tunisia will be expanded to include good governance with a particular focus on the aspects of efficiency, transparency and accountability.
