ABOUT
As a federal company, GIZ supports the federal government in achieving its goals in international cooperation for sustainable development.

FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The program office in Maseru is managed by the GIZ Pretoria office. From January 2020, measures from three regional projects will be implemented across the country in Lesotho. These include: the second phase of the “Participatory Initiative for Social Accountability” (EU co-financing of the country component of a regional trade program), “Partnerships for Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls in Southern Africa” (country component of a regional project) and “Integrated Catchment Management “(EU co-financing of the country component of a regional water program). The complexity and requirements are growing significantly, particularly due to the increase in financial and personnel resources in the water sector (EUR 33.5 million). In future, the measures will be supported commercially by a bundled finance and administration team, which will be subordinate to the Pretoria office in terms of disciplines.

YOUR TASKS
1. Responsibility for the efficient and high-quality provision of all financial, contractual and other administrative support services to ensure the delivery capability of the projects in Lesotho
2. Ensuring compliance with company, client (incl. EU) and national legislation
3. Advice and support for those responsible for commissioning and implementation and project teams with specialist knowledge and process knowledge as well as the provision of instruments, data and analyzes
4. Personnel responsibility in the program office, including further development of all necessary commercial skills and capacities
5. Coordination of all commercial processes with the GIZ Pretoria office and other country offices (including Gaborone, Lusaka)
6. Financial management (including budget planning and monitoring, bookkeeping, allocations, taxes, reporting to clients) in Lesotho, including co-financing
7. Contract drafting; Internal control, auditing and external audits; Logistics and vehicle management; Space and building management for all GIZ locations in Lesotho; Personnel-related processes (including visas, taxes, pension payments); Security and risk management; public relation
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Completed studies in business administration, administrative sciences or comparable courses
2. Several years of relevant professional experience in commercial functions in international organizations or companies, preferably in Germany and abroad
3. Experience in the context of partner countries in development cooperation and with various types of projects
4. Proven competence and experience in the financial and contract management of EU co-financing
5. Leadership skills and experience
6. Pronounced social skills; Strong communication skills, strong teamwork and intercultural competence, solution orientation
7. Very good knowledge of the relevant IT instruments (SAP, OnSite, MS Office etc.)
8. Proficient in German and English
