FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The Civil Peace Service (ZFD) is a program for preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis and conflict regions. The focus of the CPS program is on the formation and strengthening of cross-border civil society networks in the Great Lakes region (Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern Congo). The target group are adolescents and young adults who are to be empowered to take an active role in shaping a positive and peaceful future through non-violent approaches. Essential partner structures include networks and civil society organizations with experience in peace education and journalism, work on the past and memory, psychosocial expertise and skills in network and advocacy work. The ZFD program addresses the identified need for psychosocial care offers for the population groups in all three countries of the intervention area who are traumatized and suffered as a result of mass violence. The partner organization is RAPI (Réseau Associatif pour la Psychologie Intégrale).

YOUR TASKS
1. Training of networks and interest groups as well as local decision-makers in the eastern Kivu region to record and monitor essential indicators of psychological well-being in the target groups, including the technical expertise of the ZFD colleagues
2. Coordination with a ZFD specialist who looks after psychosocial monitoring in Rwanda and Burundi from Kigali
3. Design of accompanying and support measures in order to establish networks and interest groups with different approaches to non-violent conflict management, e.g. To familiarize yourself with non-violent communication, mediation, "Alternatives to Violence"
4. Survey of the needs of the partner networks with regard to advocacy work for psychosocial interventions and organization of corresponding further training measures
5. Support of the partner networks in the development of advocacy strategies as well as planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns taking into account the socio-political scope of action
6. Promotion of the expansion of existing networks and platforms for psychosocial work in the partner structure as well as cooperation with other relevant national and regional organizations
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. (Technical) university degree in clinical psychology, in the field of peace and conflict research, international relations, sociology or a comparable qualification
2. Several years of professional experience in psychosocial care and / or research on psychosocial issues
3. Practical experience in the field of peace and reconciliation in post-conflict situations as well as in cooperation with non-governmental organizations in the south (southern NGOs)
4. Experience in developing advocacy strategies and implementing advocacy measures
5. Practical experience in the organization and moderation of workshops and training courses
6. Profound experience in analytical and strategic thinking and the ability to convey complex content in a simple and understandable manner
7. Professional handling of controversial topics and discourses in a politically sensitive context
8. Knowledge of the conflict context in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region as well as knowledge of relevant mainstreaming issues (gender, human rights, inclusion) and the topic of psychosocial support, ideally also in the areas of dealing with the past, peace education, promoting critical thinking, peace journalism
9. Business fluent French

LOCATION INFORMATION
Place of residence: Bukavu
Climate: The Democratic Republic of the Congo has a tropical climate, and due to the altitude, the temperatures in Bukavu are relatively pleasant
Health care: Good for acute tropical illnesses, other medical care is not optimal
Children, toddlers, school situation: Bukavu is not a family location.
Accessibility: There is a flight connection to Kigali from Kamembe Airport in neighboring Rwanda; alternatively, from Kigali (Rwanda), which is about six hours away by car, there are several daily transfer flights to Europe as well as direct connections to Johannesburg (South Africa) and Nairobi (Kenya)
Security: The security situation is tense. There are special precautionary measures for GIZ employees on site. GIZ's requirements for security measures must be followed at all times. In principle, please also inform yourself about country-specific information from the Federal Foreign Office. GIZ is on site with a professional security risk management system. The freedom of movement is restricted. It is not possible for family members to leave the country.
