JOB DESCRIPTION The project "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Public Sector (REEEPublic)" supports the Government of Ghana in reducing the electricity costs of public institutions by improving energy efficiency (EE) in buildings and own generation based on renewable energy (RE). The project aims at five essential outputs: (1) Advice on provisions of the revised RE Act (2) Improving the regulatory framework for EE in buildings (3) Strengthening the ongoing ‘Government goes solar’ initiative promoting EE and RE in public institutions (4) Supporting selected public institutions at national, regional and district levels in implementing pilot measures to improve the energy performance of their buildings (5) Training and capacity building of experts for EE and RE.
YOUR TASKS 1. Coordinating the planning and implementation of pilot measures related to implementing energy efficiency measures or installing renewable energy systems in public buildings 2. Facilitating measures in public buildings belonging to partner organisations such as Regional Coordinating Councils, Municipal and District Assemblies, public hospitals or other relevant public institutions 3. Coordinating the implementation of energy audits which will identify specific energy saving opportunities 4. Developing and implementing training and awareness raising measures related on RE and EE for partner organisations in the selected region and districts 5. Ensuring monitoring of all project activities in the respective region and districts 6. Ensuring that implemented activities are in line with GIZ quality standards

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. Master’s Degree in a subject relevant to the project objectives, for example mechanical, civil or energy engineering, economics renewable energy or energy efficiency 2. Several years of professional experience in a comparable position 3. Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset 4. Fluency in English (written and oral); good command of German is an advantage
LOCATION INFORMATION The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. A contact person for security risk management is appointed at the local GIZ office. The freedom of movement is restricted. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment. We kindly ask you to inform yourself which forms of relationships are legally and socially accepted in the country of deployment.
At the site of operation the particulate pollution occurs to be many time higher than the European acceptable limit. As part of the selection process and during the recruitment examination you will be informed of appropriate protective and behavioral measures. The exact location in Ghana is still to be specified.
NOTES Please note that this position is a short term position! Only candidates can be considered who had already a minimum of 1 year contract as a development worker according to the Entwicklungshelfergesetz (EhfG).
