ABOUT
As a federal company, GIZ supports the federal government in achieving its goals in international cooperation for sustainable development.

FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The project "Green Innovation Centers in the Agricultural and Food Sector" of the special initiative 'A World Without Hunger' aims at a sustainable and inclusive increase in productivity in family farms and in small and medium-sized enterprises along the entire value chain. In the west of the country, tried and tested and economically viable innovations are being spread in the rice and sesame value chains. The project cooperates with selected partners from civil society, the private sector, associations, cooperatives, the Ministry of Agriculture and national and international companies. The common aim is to increase the income of smallholders through skills development and services, to create employment in micro, small and medium-sized companies and to improve the regional food supply.

YOUR TASKS
1. Technical management of the dissemination of innovations and development of strategies as well as methodical approaches for the adaptation and dissemination of innovations along the value chain sesame and rice incl. Seeds
2. Expansion of innovation partnerships at national, regional and international level in close coordination with the responsible partners and the project management
3. Support and technical management of partnerships with the private sector
4. Implementation of the capacity development strategy at the level of private and public value chain actors as well as further development of cooperation relationships at the national level
5. Cross-border cooperation with other innovation centers of the global project as well as active participation in the relevant cross-border working groups of the global project
6. Support of the project management in project management, budget planning, budget monitoring, impact monitoring and reporting

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

YOUR PROFILE
1. Completed technical / university degree in agriculture or another relevant subject area related to development cooperation
2. Several years of international and professional experience in the management of development cooperation projects
3. Several years of professional experience and relevant expertise in the field of value chain promotion and in advising and cooperating with state and non-state partner institutions, especially at the meso level
4. Professional experience in impact monitoring and reporting
5. Relevant knowledge about GIZ procedures, methods and instruments
6. Consulting, communication and cooperation skills as well as intercultural skills
7. Authenticity, adaptability, resilience as well as performance and goal orientation
8. Business fluency in spoken and written German and French (C2) as well as fluent language skills in English (B2)

LOCATION INFORMATION
In order to do justice to the special features of the deployment at a location with a fragile security situation, GIZ offers an additional, attractive service package. Additional information:
Medical care at international level is limited. The Sahel climate is dry, sometimes very hot and, in the rainy season, humid. French and English (USA) international schools are available. The leisure activities are manageable and limited due to the security situation.
