FIELD OF ACTIVITY

GIZ advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) on how to achieve its goals in energy cooperation with the energy partner countries. Important goals of the cooperation are the promotion of the political and professional exchange on energy issues between Germany and the mentioned countries as well as the support of private economic activities in the energy sector. The GIZ global energy partnerships project supports the specialist units in coordinating the processes of energy partnerships in a uniform manner, strategically aligning them and filling them in with content, and in achieving a uniform external communication policy and political visibility. The energy partnerships are one of the central instruments of the federal government's external energy policy strategy. The German-Ethiopia energy partnership acts as a dialogue platform and first point of contact for bilateral exchanges in the energy sector for actors in both countries from politics, business and research.

YOUR TASKS
1. Development of recommendations for action and concepts for the implementation of the exchange on energy issues with Ethiopia
2. Content, conceptual and logistical preparation of meetings and dialogue events as well as participation in events
3. Planning and implementation of consulting activities for the Ethiopian partner
4. Information and involvement of the German private sector in the dialogue
5. Advising companies on the initiation of cross-border cooperation and the implementation of model projects
6. Close coordination with GIZ colleagues in energy and climate projects in Ethiopia and the region
7. Communication, networking, reporting and knowledge management
8. Close cooperation, mutual support and regular exchange with the GIZ team in Germany
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Completed studies in politics, economics, engineering, regional sciences or comparable academic qualifications with several years of (work) experience in the extended context of energy
2. Familiarity with the developments and challenges in the energy sector in Germany and Africa as well as the political and economic framework
3. Project management and consulting experience
4. Work experience with / in countries in the East Africa region and experience with GIZ's instruments and processes are an advantage
5. Sensitive handling of complex consulting contexts and confident appearance on a politically sensitive level
6. Ability to assess and bundle the interests of various actors and to establish these networks
7. Enjoy taking on responsibility and working in international teams
8. Business fluent English and German skills
