ABOUT
As a federal company, GIZ supports the federal government in achieving its goals in international cooperation for sustainable development.

FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The human rights component of the “Strengthening Governance and Civil Society” program works closely with the National Planning Authority, the Human Rights Commission and non-governmental organizations to strengthen human rights in Uganda. In the integrated project “Human Rights in the Digital Age”, the digital skills of human rights defenders are strengthened. The professional association “Good Governance in Sub-Saharan Africa” (GGA) is an internal platform for knowledge management and exchange of experience. This enables specialists to improve their advisory work and work together in 5 thematic clusters across the country. The professional network work is largely carried out virtually, in English and French.

YOUR TASKS
1. Reporting, impact monitoring and impact communication, digital knowledge management and planning of possible follow-up projects
2. Content research, writing of brief information on the topics of human rights, in particular anti-discrimination and digitization in German and English
3. Support in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of internal and external trainings, workshops and events with partner organizations in Uganda
4. Cooperation with non-governmental organizations
5. Administrative, organizational and technical and methodical support to ensure knowledge management and management of the GGA's virtual exchange platform
6. Preparation and follow-up of steering group meetings, support of the speaker and the steering group in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of activities / events
7. Administration and onboarding of new members of the GGA as well as networks with other associations
8. Financial monitoring, budget planning and reporting in consultation with the GGA spokesman
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Completed university degree, preferably in a law, humanities or social sciences subject as well as initial professional experience in consulting and project management, preferably in Germany and abroad
2. Experience in the areas of impact monitoring, public relations and knowledge management, preferably within GIZ
3. Good general knowledge of projects on good governance in German development cooperation; Experience in working with civil society organizations is an asset
4. High communication skills as well as the ability to cooperate and work in a team
5. Good self and work organization as well as the ability to react flexibly and solution-oriented under stress and to changes
6. Experience in organizing workshops, trainings or events, especially virtual formats
7. Very good MS Office application knowledge and work experience in the use of virtual exchange formats, IT solutions (MS Teams / Integrated Digital Applications / Sharepoint, social media) as well as the ability and willingness to quickly and independently acquire new knowledge in the digital field and to pass this on to colleagues * to pass on inside
8. Business fluent knowledge of German, English and French

LOCATION INFORMATION
Medical care in Uganda is available. If further treatment is necessary, facilities in neighboring Kenya can also be used. There are several international schools.

The security situation is tense. Special precautionary measures apply to GIZ employees on site. GIZ's requirements for security measures must be followed at all times. The freedom of movement is restricted. There are no restrictions on the part of GIZ for family members to leave the country.
