JOB DESCRIPTION
The programme Promoting Rural Development already supports Farmer Organisations (FO) to fulfil their role as business drivers for small-scale farmers. Further support to business and trade organisations representing Small and Medium Enterprises is planned. FOs and other organisations need to understand their markets, opportunities and respective requirements, develop business models, secure financial viability and independence, enhance management structures and processes and offer relevant services to their members. Individual members need to develop their entrepreneurial mind-set and business skills, manage capacities and understand the benefits and costs of effectively engaging in business-oriented farmer or trade organisations.

YOUR TASKS
1. Operational responsibility for implementation of the ongoing “Business Training and Coaching Cycle for Farmer Organisations” activity
2. Backstopping of implementing partners and regular communication and exchange with partnering GIZ programmes
3. Identifying potential partner organisations and developing strategies for further support
4. Regular field visits including participation in trainings and feedback sessions
5. Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of respective activities, close exchange with the M&E specialist of the programme
6. Overview and maintenance of timelines and general data
7. Planning and moderation of exchange meetings and workshops with stakeholders
8. Coordination of a continuous exchange and alignment with other activities within the programme
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Bachelors’s degree or equivalent experience in any of the fields or related to: Agriculture Economics, Business Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Marketing and Trade
2. Expertise in Organisational Development
3. Experience in training and coaching of farmer and/or business organisations
4. Intercultural skills and structured method of working
5. Driving license and experience
6. Proficiency in English

LOCATION INFORMATION
Location: Gulu, Northern Uganda, distance to capital 330 km via a good tarmac road
Climate: Tropical, ø 23 °C (17 -35 °C), rainy season March/April – October/ November.
Health care: Sufficient primary medical and emergency care, further treatment in Kampala if necessary.
Schools: No international schools.

The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. GIZ runs a professional security risk management system in the field of deployment. The freedom of movement is restricted.
