ABOUT
Energising Development (EnDev) is a global multi-donor partnership program implemented by GIZ that facilitates market-based access to modern energy services in more than 20 countries worldwide. In Uganda, EnDev, under the Promotion of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme, cooperates closely with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in providing access to modern energy services to Ugandan households, social institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises through market development for solar photovoltaic and energy efficient cook stoves. In line with its support to the solar sector, EnDev Uganda has worked with Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) solar companies, which have played a significant role in the growth of the Off-Grid Solar sector over the past years.

YOUR TASKS
1. Support the implementation of activities that contribute to strengthening the solar market in Uganda
2. Linking solar PAYG companies to the Ugandan credit reference system
3. Support COVID-19 related economic relief activities for the solar and cook stove sector
4. Support the management of the relationships with stakeholders in the off-grid solar and finance sector
5. Coordinate knowledge management and exchange on the off-grid energy finance nexus
6. Plan, implement and evaluate virtual and physical events
7. Assist internal monitoring and verification processes
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Master’s degree in an energy related field, climate change and environmental studies, law, political science or economics
2. First experience in renewable energy, the solar PAYG sector, energy financing and climate change
3. First experience in stakeholder coordination and backstopping
4. Experience in organising virtual and physical events
5. Good understanding of the institutional and policy framework in Uganda including energy, climate, banking and finance sector
6. Computer literacy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams)
7. Strong organizational and administrative competence; GIZ work experience is an advantage
8. Excellent German and English language skills

LOCATION INFORMATION
Climate: sub-tropical
Health care: good local medical facilities (hospitals, clinics and specialist doctors)
Shopping and other supplies: very good range of shops (almost European standard), many international restaurants
Travel to location: regular flights to Entebbe international airport
Schools and school fees: good international schools. The school fees are reimbursed according to the GIZ guidelines.
Other: Kampala is a family-friendly location with a large international community and a wide range of leisure opportunities.

The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. The freedom of movement is restricted. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.
