Job-ID: P1533V5041 Location: Abuja Assignment period: 12/01/2020 - 12/31/2021 Field: Financial Management and Controlling Type of employment: full- or part-time Application deadline: 11/29/2020 JOB DESCRIPTION Financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), ‘Strengthening capacities for peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Nigeria’s Middle Belt’ is a transitional assistance project that aims to create the conditions for de-escalating the violent conflicts in the Plateau State in Central Nigeria. The project is active at the project locations Abuja and Jos in Nigeria. The ‘Competitive African Rice Initiative (CARI II)’ project, financed by BMZ and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to increase productivity and improve the quality of smallholders’ rice production. This is a regional project and is currently being implemented in three African countries: Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Tanzania. YOUR TASKS 1. Providing advice on financial management, commercial decisions, budget and cash planning, and efficient monitoring of costs, expenditures and accounts receivable 2. Mentoring and providing technical guidance for financial and administrative staff as well as ensuring the transfer of commercial knowledge to national project staff 3. Establishing effective commercial and administrative structures and processes 4. Ensuring the handling of rule-compliant commercial transactions 5. Preparing, steering and following up internal controls and internal and external audits 6. Assisting with financial reporting 7. Participating in the creation of budgets for contracts with partners as well as holding commercial training sessions 8. Processing and supporting financial control of local subsidies, financing agreements and grants
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE 1. University degree in business administration or a comparable qualification 2. Extensive knowledge of commercial processes and a sound understanding of financial and contractual tasks within the scope of GIZ projects 3. Good knowledge of the relevant IT instruments (WinPaccs, CostControl, SAP-FI, Onsite Reporting, Office applications) 4. Excellent communication skills and team player mentality 5. Exceptional intercultural sensitivity 6. Resilience and high frustration tolerance 7. Willingness to provide technical and administrative further training for a team of national staff 8. Fluent business English, German is an advantage LOCATION INFORMATION GIZ offers an additional package of attractive benefits to take account of the specific characteristics of assignments in locations where the security situation is fragile.
