JOB DESCRIPTION
Within the programme Decentralisation for Development GIZ is supporting the Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ) and the Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute (CLGTI) as a medium for capacity development at local level. In your position you support LGAZ to coordinate the voicing of the training needs of local authority’s vis-a-vis relevant actors at the nation al level and CLGTI. At CLGTI you support the development of training courses and respective modes of delivery that reflect the identified training needs for local authorities. The goal of this assignment is to contribute to the development of a comprehensive training program for local government.

YOUR TASKS
1. Advise the LGAZ on the conceptualisation and implementation of research, and advise services in local councils
2. Support the LGAZ in strengthening the coordination mechanisms with its membership as well with other relevant institutions and partners
3. Support of the development of standardisation of training materials at CLGTI
4. Advise CLGTI on the improvement of its training framework
5. Work with the CLGTI to improve the quality of their training modules, through use of information and communications technology
6. Support both institutions in strengthening their internal management capacities
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. University degree in social science, political science or public administration
2. Several years of relevant experience, ideally in the public sector and with training institutions
3. Hands-on experience with management of public institutions preferably with a link to training organisations
4. Professional experience with or in local Government
5. Demonstrated ability to operate in multi-cultural teams
6. High degree of flexibility
7. Fluency in English

LOCATION INFORMATION

A contact person for security risk management is appointed at the local GIZ office. There are no special restrictions to freedom of movement in the working environment. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.
