ABOUT
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research. Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing. Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action, engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings, influence policy decisions, and improve the quality of life in Africa.

JOB OVERVIEW
1. The APHRC invites applications for Qualitative Field Interviewers in its Digital Dividend (MomCare Evaluation) project that will be conducted in Manyara and Kilimanjaro regions in Tanzania between June and July 2021.
2. The project aims to collect data on maternal satisfaction with maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) services, and quality of care received by pregnant and lactating women during the mother journey.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Obtain and document informed consent from the study participants prior to the interviews
2. Conduct and record in-depth interviews and focus group discussions
3. Transcribe audio data to text
4. Translate interviews from Swahili to English
5. Participate in field planning
6. Perform any other duties as assigned by the project leadership.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, or any other Social Science
2. Proficiency in English, Kiswahili and any other local languages
3. Have proven experience in qualitative data collection
4. Have experience in doing transcription and translation
5. Have experience using electronic data capture methods such as Survey CTO
6. Experience working with expectant or new mothers, and/or experience working in a health facility environment
7. Working knowledge on, antenatal care and postnatal care processes in Tanzania
8. Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
9. Resilience and being able to record accurate data in long hours of interviews
10. Training in any health related course, sociology/psychology is an added advantage
11.Good knowledge of or resident of Manyara and Kilimanjaro.
