ABOUT ICARDA
The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is an international autonomous, non-profit, research organization supported by CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future. ICARDA’s mission is to reduce poverty, enhance food, water and nutritional security, as well as environmental health in the face of global challenges including climate change. We do this through innovative science, strategic partnerships, linking research to development and capacity development that take into account gender equality and the role of youth in transforming the dry areas. ICARDA works in partnership with governments, universities, civil society, national agricultural research organization, other CGIAR research Centres, and the private sector. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provide video support for the delivery of ICARDA’s communication products and activities.

Main responsibilities
1. The intern will gradually learn to develop:
1) A series of short videos for social media platforms
2) Short videos to showcase our work
3) Short ‘explainer’ videos to show ‘how it works’
4) Short ‘explainer’ animated videos (working with the Graphic Design Intern)
5) Voice over, sound effects, music, graphics, and special effects for videos.
2. Other responsibilities include:
1) Find, organize and clearly catalogue ICARDA’s stock of video.
2) Enter global video award competitions such as The Webbys.
3) Create different language versions (Arabic/English captions) for different audiences.
4) Support communication team with visual assets for social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
5) Contribute to the way ICARDA is represented to its audiences by adhering to existing ICARDA branding guidelines.
6) Train other members of the team in video editing best practices and software use.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
Essential qualifications and competencies
1. Must be currently enrolled in a University or Graduate School and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six months.
2. Basic skills in video and image editing software
3. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
4. Good level of English and Arabic (oral and written).
5. Examples of creative, appealing, and imaginative films and video clips (they do not have to be development related).
Desirable qualifications and competencies
1. Working knowledge in iMovie, Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc
2. Working knowledge in Adobe Photoshop
3. Working knowledge of Adobe Animate, Character Animation and Audition
4. Understanding of website CMS systems is an asset

BENEFITS
The successful candidate will be offered a paid internship for 6 months and will be working from home and from our Cairo office.
