JOB DESCRIPTION
The second phase of the Regional Pandemic prepared Project (RPPP) advising the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Member States' Institutions on the implementation of core capacities of the International Health Regulations is about to begin. In the new project there will be an increased focus on support to One Health actors at all levels of the system, on building exchange formats, communications and coordination between them and on building human and technical capacity in this sector. Cooperation will be based on enhancement and further development of key products and deliverables of RPPP1 such as the regional risk communications strategy, Inter-insitutional Communications and Coordination Strategy, the SOPs underpinning the Regional Rapid Response Team and new digital communications platforms. The project will also support the development of the Regional One Health platform of ECOWAS and of selected Member States.

YOUR TASKS
1. Supporting programme management in the conceptual design of the Output area
2. Leading the planning, design and delivery of key activities to support the development of the regional One Health approach in ECOWAS in close cooperation with key staff in regional institutions and private and public sector delivery partners
3. Working closely with RPPP embedded advisors in selected institutions of ECOWAS and technical advisers in the focus countries and with other component leads within RPPP2 to ensure synergies between the project activities
4. Ensuring cooperation on One Health issues with other relevant projects of German Development Cooperation in the ECOWAS region and globally
5. Ensuring effective coordination with other development partners
6. Contributing to Knowledge Management on One Health, the Monitoring and Evaluation framework and project communication and visibility events within the project
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

YOUR PROFILE
1. Completed university studies with a master’s degree or higher in medicine, veterinary medicine, health sciences, environmental sciences, public health or in a related field relevant to One Health
2. Several years of professional experience and relevant expertise in One Health taking into account environmental, human and animal health activities
3. Several years of professional experience and relevant expertise in German and international development cooperation with relevant expertise in the thematic field of One Health, global health, pandemic prevention and control
4. Strong team player, with excellent communication, cooperation, negotiation and consulting skills, and good intercultural skills
5. Ability to prioritize and work well under time pressure and in fragile contexts combined with very good organizational skills
6. Authenticity, resilience as well as performance and goal orientation
7. Fluency in English and French; knowledge of German would be advantageous
