ROLE SUMMARY
A Full Service Law firm with offices in Abuja and Lagos is seeking to recruit a qualified junior/mid-level associate (2-5 years) to join our Technology Practice, with specific focus on financial technologies, digital assets and related financing and transaction structures. Familiarity with payment systems laws, regulations and guidelines together with an understanding of the latest financial services developments including crypto and other digital assets would be an advantage.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate must possess the following competencies and skills:
1. General experience in a broad range of corporate and transactional matters and specific understanding and experience with assisting clients navigate technology regulatory environment.
2. General experience and knowledge of financial systems (both traditional and emerging virtual financial systems).
3. Significant understanding of the legal framework for finance, technology, media, technology and data protection in Nigeria.
4. Significant understanding of traditional financial systems as well as emerging financial technologies including: Block chain, Distributive ledger technology, algorithms.
5. In-depth knowledge and skill in negotiating, drafting and understanding Technology Contracts, including (financial) technology development agreements, Service agreements, Cloud agreements, e-commerce agreements, smart contracts and data governance agreements.
6. Understanding of the major forms of alternative finance including peer 2 peer and market place lending, crowdfunding and Initial Coin Offerings (ICO).
7. Clear understanding of various payment systems technology including real time gross settlement systems and other alternative payment systems.
8. Experience in handling regulatory and legal issues faced by block chain, bitcoin, and other virtual currency businesses, complex technology transactions, licensing, and payment and financial services matters related to emerging and traditional payment systems, services, and products.
9. Experience of working on regulatory licenses and applications, compliance and enforcement matters, complex bank and money transmission regulatory issues, privacy, and cyber security.
10. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills good drafting skills.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. Candidates applying for this role must have graduated with a minimum of second class upper from a reputable university and the Nigerian Law School.
2. In addition, the successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as inter-personal skills.
