MAIN JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: General Counsel / Associate General Counsel
DIVISION: Legal Counsel
DEPARTMENT: Group Legal

THE ROLE
1. Fully integrated to the Group Legal function, the successful candidate will assist both Group and Local Legal teams with complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, financings, commercial matters and all day-to-day legal matters.
2. You must be a dynamic, independent, and self-sufficient individual with top tier law firm training.
3. We are aiming for the successful candidate to start this role as soon as possible

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Take a pro-active lead role in advising the Legal Team and business stakeholders on all legal matters, with a particular focus on M&A and financing transactions and ensure these are completed in a timely manner.
2. Assist legal team and other stakeholders with queries relating to commercial contracts with our main customers and/or vendors
3. Assist in the negotiation, review and drafting of various contractual documents with customers and/or vendors
4. Provide rapid, practical, business-oriented commercial legal advice
5. Establish strong and effective working relationships both in-house and externally.
6. Ensure that all contractual documents of the Company are in compliance with applicable laws, guideline, regulations and best practice
7. Collaborate and facilitate cross functional team support
8. Willing to work long hours as and when required, to ensure appropriate control and management of complicated transactions.
9. Other responsibilities as may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
1. UK qualified solicitor (or equivalent EU qualification)
2. At least 7-8 years post qualified experience in a top tier law firm and/or as in-house counsel in a company
3. Proven experience in commercial and general contracting law, with excellent legal drafting, negotiation and transaction management skills is essential.
4. Experience in telecommunications and/or procurement/supply chain related contracts will be an additional asset.
5. Ability to work in multicultural and fast-paced corporate environment
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and to adhere to tight deadlines
7. Flexible and creative, with a proactive “can do” attitude.
8. Comfortable working autonomously and taking the initiative when needed
9. Willingness and enthusiasm to cover a breadth of legal issues and to develop new technical areas of law.
10. Attention to detail with the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner at all levels within the multicultural teams across the IHS operations
11. Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
12. French, Portuguese or Arabic language would be a distinct bonus.
