JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is an operational non profit organization with mission to strengthen child protection and prevent child sexual abuse. They currently have an opening for a Shelter Manager in Lagos.

JOB OVERVIEW
1. The Program Officer will support the implementation of the Foundation’s service program by working closely with the Directors of the Foundation.
2. He/she will provide management and oversight for all aspects of the Foundation’s Prevention Awareness Training Program to ensure the smooth running of operations and support the development and implementation of program strategies.
3. The Program Officer will also seek training opportunities for the Foundation’s team to strengthen local capacity in management, reporting, and technical areas relevant to the Foundation’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Designing, developing and implementing training programs based on customized modules from the Foundation (i.e., the module development, the training coordination and the follow up for mainstreaming and sustainability); initiating collaborations with specialists and relevant stakeholders on identifying and diagnosing professional service response to child sexual abuse; improving the learning assessment tools/methods for children, educators and communities.
2. Manage all aspects of grant programs including grant program oversight and administration, grant application/proposal review and processing, coordination of grant review committee, funders and partners, oversee grant program evaluation and benchmarking, prepare reports and other duties as needed.
3. Liaising with the partner organizations and will be responsible for ensuring that all relevant policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding, safety and security, code of conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies are adhered to during program implementation
4. Provide strategic direction to the team to achieve the overall goal and objectives of the Foundation.
5. Provide management oversight and guidance with planning and implementation of the Foundation’s activities by ensuring smooth functioning of all aspects of operations, including finance, procurement, logistics, security, oversight, and monitoring; including ensuring timely and accurate assessments, and guidance for the selection of appropriate target communities/responses based on assessment findings and Child Protection mandate.
6. Monitor and provide guidance for project implementation.
7. Coordinate baseline surveys and monitoring and evaluation activities.
8. Review, finalize, and submit all programmatic and financial reports to the Founder/Trustee and the Executive Director based on the Foundation’s reporting requirements and schedule.
9. Attend regular and ad-hoc coordination meetings to provide updates on the Foundation’s achievements and status of implementation
10. Identify training opportunities for team members, particularly for the logistics and operational duties related to child protection programs.
11. Ensure compliance with International and donor policies and regulations in all operational and programmatic functions.
12. Provides technical assistance and support to programs.
13. Collects, complies, and analyzes information relevant to programs.
14. Provides administrative and project support, in addition to communication efforts related to program management and execution.
15. Ensures compliance with internal and external regulations.
16. Monitors budget for programs and develops monitoring system for reviewing project status.
17. Ensures completion of program while adhering to budget, scope, and schedule requirements.
18. Develops/Reviews work plans, prepares presentations, and supports other related program objectives and deliverables.
19. Support design and formulation of programme within the area of responsibility, translating priorities into local interventions.
20. Provide expert advice, technical assistance and capacity building to members, partners and children.
21. Support the development of background documents, briefs, and presentations, including carrying out relevant literature reviews and analysis on the rights of the child
22. Participate in long and short-term program development plans.
23. Carry out program activities as assigned in accordance with specifications and funding limitation.
24. Support the development of strategies to increase the Foundation’s fundraising initiatives.
25. Support the team to monitor, analyze and comment on debates around child rights, particularly as it relates to child abuse.
26. Represent the Foundation at workshops, trainings and interactions organized by partner organisations.
27. Track current regional and national economic, political, social, and other trends impacting on target group and inform appropriate personnel on actions or pending actions that would impact their work.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's Degree in the relevant disciplines – social sciences, public health, International human rights law , Education, Development Studies, Psychology, Child Development, Child Psychology, Community Psychology and any equivalent accrued working experience in a related position
2. Professional project management qualification in PMP will be an added advantage
3. Great leadership skills and ability to function as a team player.
4. Excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
5. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and Access).
6. At least 2 years’ experience in programme development and implementation with an international NGO.
7. Relevant experience in implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluating community-based child protection projects with NGOs particularly those addressing children’s rights.
8. Has a good understanding of education thematic subjects and demonstrated experience in working with the government and education authorities at all levels.
9. Ability to interact with communities; children and adults as well as other stakeholders at sub-county and district levels and mobilizing them to participate in community development activities.
10. Has at least 5years of relevant technical and professional experience in the education sector
11. Strong planning/anticipation skills. Experience of planning and organizing meetings and events, with a strong attention to detail.
12. Sound judgement and an ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment.
13. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others.
14. Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English.
15. The ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a broad range of people at all levels, across different cultures and to act with credibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy.
16. Thorough in delivering high quality work and gives a high level of attention to detail.
17. Self- motivated and ability to work autonomously.
18. Commitment to the mission, vision and values of our client.
19. Relevant experience implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluating community-based child protection projects with NGOs particularly those addressing children’s rights
