Who we are
KCB Group is registered as a non-operating holding company which started operations as a licensed banking institution with effect from January 1, 2016. The holding company oversees KCB Kenya – incorporated with effect from January 1, 2016 – and all KCB’s regional units in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan. It also owns KCB Insurance Agency, KCB Capital, KCB Foundation and all associate companies.

The holding company was set up to among other things to enhance the Group’s capacity to access unrestricted capital and also enable investment in new ventures outside banking regulations, achieve operational and strategic autonomy for the Group’s operating entities and enhance corporate governance across the Group and oversight in management of subsidiaries.

2016
KCB Group Plc was registered as a non-operating holding company to oversee all KCB regional units including KCB Bank Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Ethiopia. It also owns KCB Insurance Agency, KCB Capital, KCB Foundation and all associate companies.

2015
KCB Bank received an international credit rating from Moody’s and S&P rating agencies. B1 and B+ respectively and at par with the Kenya sovereign rating aunch of KCB M-PESA, a mobile based account , offered exclusively to M-PESA customers.5M accounts were opened during the year transacting over KES 259B. Launch of Representative office in Ethiopia

2012
KCB completed its Eastern African Regional presence with the opening of the KCB Bank Burundi and doubled its share price in the bourse surpassing the USD 1 Billion capital ratio and an impressive growth of 11% in its books

2011
KCB in its 115th year anniversary posted a record KES 15.1 Billion trading profit making it the most profitable bank in Eastern Africa.

2008
The Bank ventured into Rwanda opening 14 branches to date. KCB witnessed a major milestone with the implementation of new core banking system, T24. The system enabled the bank to offer services on a one-branch banking network (every branch is your home branch) across all 5 countries.

2007
KCB extended its operations to Uganda in order to provide the 3 East African countries with the ability to bank across borders especially for trading partners

2006
The Bank spread its wings further to South Sudan becoming the 1st regional entrant that now has 20 branches across all 10 states.

2003
In pursuit of its vision, the bank re-branded to KCB Bank Ltd with a broad reaching internal and external program including sponsorship of the various Eastern Africa rally series.

1997
The bank resolved to spread its operations to various viable markets in the region starting with Tanzania that now has 11 branches.
